rena holford, hagg hill glass, glass horse rena holford, hagg hill glass, with life size glass horse

As well as being a glass artist, I run with my family an established and successful livery yard in the countryside of North East England. An accomplished horsewoman, my lifelong passion is reflected in my work.

Based on images from cave paintings and my own horses, I create equine figures in kiln formed glass which are given colour and texture using various techniques.

Both wall mounted and free standing sculptures are available in a variety of sizes.

Please contact me for further information.

You can visit the following Galleries to view my work:

Ballman Gallery Corbridge, Arts Bank Saltburn and Barnard Castle I will also be in The Biscuit Factory this month and of course Silver, the life size horse, is on display at Bamburgh Castle outside on the stable wall and at Hagg Hill Farm Winlaton Mill.

Commission for Molineux Street NHS Centre
Byker Newcastle upon Tyne

The centre was opened November 26th 2007, glass was installed August 9th 2008

There are two doctors practices on the ground floor of the centre
and I have installed 11 panels of glass into the main entrance passage way of the building. The colours used depict sunrise and sunset and images within the glass are of Ousburn and Stepney Bank and the architecture of the local churches, bridges and of course the Byker Wall.

The panels can be viewed from both sides, one side being highly textured and pleasing to touch. Because of the positioning of the glass and the altering light, the images and colours change constantly at every angle as you walk down the passage way giving the viewer a completely different perspective of the story being told.

The images below show the panels from design through to installation. Please click on an image to enlarge.
